Come join the United Democratic Club at a dinner and drinks event with Dolores Street’s Deportation Defense Program on Tuesday, September 5th from 6-9pm. 20% of the dinner and drinks proceeds go to Deportation Defense. Learn more about DSCS’ DEPORTATION DEFENSE PROGRAM: https://www.sfdeportdefense.org/ Unlike in the criminal justice system, most immigrants have no right to an appointed attorney in immigration detention and deportation proceedings, even though many have legal avenues to fight their case. Dolores Street’s Deportation Defense and Legal Advocacy Program evolved as an emergency response to unconstitutional raids in 2008. As the program has grown, it has maintained its focus on providing culturally and linguistically competent, zealous representation to those who are fighting back against the most egregious due process violations in the immigration system. The program’s practice has focused on representing survivors of ICE's constitutional violations, unaccompanied minors and refugee families, immigrant detainees, individuals with impaired mental competency, and other community members. In light of increased detention under the new presidential administration, the program is prioritizing immediate legal representation for our neighbors who are victims of ICE raids. THANK YOU!
